Reality Check

  • Final Projects (part 2) this week. Don't forget that you need to write a two-page critique, which is worth 10 points. These are due by the end of this week- Friday at the latest.
  • The Spring 2019 final exam (scheduled by the Registrar) is Friday, May 3 from 10:15 AM - 12:15 PM in Studio 5.However, we can have a final project review session during our normally scheduled lecture time, Monday April 29 from 12:20-1:10 PM. (It likely will take 30-45 minutes.)
  • Evaluations - It would be good to get 100% participation. 5 points extra credit for everyone if we get 100%. Please go to coursequestionnaire.iu.edu/ to submit an evaluation for Jim.

Final Thoughts

TV studios vary in size and shape. Hopefully this class has served as a good introduction to studio techniques and has given you practice directing, producing, running cameras and learning the switcher, lighting console and audio board.

Remember to keep an open mind and continue learning new techniques. When you leave school your education is just beginning.

One of the most important things you can do as a production student is to put a reel together. It's good to have a website where you can update and feature your work.

An interesting article on The Medium about portfolios.

Be sure to leave this class with everything you worked on. (tape and/or hard drive) Even if your project didn't go as well as you hoped, there are certainly parts that you can use. (Also good for memorabilia.) Clips will be deleted after next week.
