Week 1 - Pretest & Bio Exercise

Open your favorite text editing software and make a document called "pretest". Make sure it is called "pretest".

Write down:

  • Name and preferred pronoun
  • Phone number
  • Academic focus and any other personal or professional interests.
  • List a show or ad with graphic/visual design that you like.
  • Assuming you have one, describe the your graphics/editing setup you'll be using this semester ( E.g. MacBook Pro with an external monitor, HP desktop, etc.) or if you'll be relying on IU/Media School Production Lab computers.
  • Llist three specific things you’d like to learn or get out of the class.
  • Describe any projects you'd like to make in P354/J560 or any projects you'd like to make graphics for.

Without looking up the solutions, answer 5 questions (and don't worry if you don't know the answers):

  • What are the pixel dimensions of 720p video?
  • What are the pixel dimensions and precise frame rate of 1080i TV?
  • What is an adjustment layer?
  • What is an alpha channel?
  • Assume you will be animating a company logo. They've offered you either a bitmap or vector version. Which should you use and why?

Turn it in as a doc, pdf, or docx file via Canvas
